ARISE Project Notes from the Field: Bringing Immunization Closer to Communities: Community-Centered Health Workers

The Africa Routine Immunization Essentials (ARISE) project aimed to identify and document promising interventions leading to improved and sustained routine immunization system performance in sub-Saharan Africa. This document provides an overview of one common driver of improvements in routine immunization, namely the partnership between health systems and communities, and provides country-specific examples of how this partnership.

Implementing the Reaching Every Distrct Approach: A Guide for District Health Management

In 2002, WHO and its partners developed the Reaching Every District (RED)approach to increasing and sustaining high levels of routine immunisation. Since then, most African countries have introduced the RED approach in some form and country implementations have been evaluated. The recommendations from those evaluations informed the development of this guide which is intended to be adapted and used by national immunization programs to introduce the RED approach.

Saving Newborn Lives Tools for Newborn Health: Communication for Immunization Campaigns for Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus Elimination, A Guide to Mobilizing Demand and Increasing Coverage

The purpose of this guide is to describe how to design and carry out a social mobilization program to create demand and increase participation during immunization campaigns and routine immunizations, and thereby improve the health of communities in developing countries.
